Kids are meant to play. It is built into their DNA and they come into the world knowing how to do it. But as a culture we are inundated with technologies and pressure to aqcuire more and more stuff, and it is getting harder for young children to simply play.
Open ended play that is driven by children and invites them to use their whole bodies and explore their own ideas is crucial to their development, happiness and overall wellbeing. And when children’s play needs are met, our lives as parents quieter and more harmonious.
In this workshop, you will learn about the basics of play, why children need to do it - pretty much constantly - and all that open ended play does for their development.
You will learn how to set up simple play prompts that will keep your child engaged and their sensory and imaginative needs met
You will gain back some peace and moments of quiet in your home, particularly during transitions and hard moments of the day like mornings and dinner hour
You will learn how to use play to help your children process specific issues or transitional phases like the birth of a new sibling, change in school or caregiver, doctors visits, and travel and more
